Scala Coeli, owes its name to the Monastery of Santa Maria Scala Coeli, commonly known as the Carthusian Monastery, where Carthusian monks remain in silence and prayer. It is the result of the best vinifications each year of less traditional Alentejo varieties. It was first produced in 2008.
