SINGLE CONCEPT RED 2017

WINE Concept REGION Douro D.O.C TYPE Red Wine AGRICULTURAL YEAR Cold and rainy winter, followed by hot spring and very mild summer. The harvest started early and with perfect weather, including providential rains in the middle of September. The grapes came in healthy, balanced and perfect throughout the harvest. This will be a harvest to remember.

VARIETIES Mixture of traditional Douro grape varieties (more than 20), including Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Amarela, Rufete.

VINES Shale soils. Made of a small portion of old vines (90 years old) from Quinta do Cabido, an inhospitable “hook” formed by the Teja stream, in the parish of Numão. In this vintage, it was possible to isolate these grapes without affecting the final blend of Concept red.

VINIFICATION Hand-picked grapes for small boxes. Partial destemming, followed by crushing and pumping into stainless steel vats. Fermentation with controlled temperature, soft pumping over, final maceration of one week. Malo-lactic fermentation in vat.

AGING 22 months in new French oak barrels.
