Wine Year The year 2015 was marked by being a dry but extremely balanced year, since it rained in the right amount and on the most suitable date. The months of July and August had mild temperatures, with hot days and cold nights, which favored a correct maturation. It started the harvest with white grapes on the 21st of August, and the first red grapes from Quinta da Cabreira, in the Douro Superior, entered on 29 August. Weather conditions until the end of harvest were very favorable, having rained on the 15th and 16th of September, which favored the tuning maturation of some vineyards, namely our Touriga Nacional. As a result we have white and red wines with excellent aromatic definition, compact structures composed of tannins of high quality. A year where wines stand out for their generous fruit, freshness natural and extraordinary elegance. Grapes Old Vineyards Winemaking The grapes were transported in food plastic boxes and subjected to rigorous sorting at the entrance from the cellar, After a gentle crushing without destemming, they were sent to a traditional press where were stepped on by men at regular intervals. Subsequently, wine spirit was added, thus stopping fermentation. Aging Quinta do Crasto L.B.V 2015 aged in 9000 liter oak barrels, where it remained for about 4 years. It was bottled, without any gluing or filtration, being subject during its aging, creating a slight deposit. Tasting Note Dark violet in color, almost opaque, impresses on the nose due to the extraordinary aromatic intensity of notes of blackberry well wrapped in soft notes of cocoa. In the mouth test starts captivating, evolving into a serious wine of excellent concentration, volume and structure composed of solid texture tannins very well integrated with fresh aromatic sensations of wild fruits. a seductive wine that ends in perfect balance and with excellent persistence. Due to the fact that been subjected to any filtration, meets all the conditions to evolve positively in the bottle.
